Product and Service

This project aims to provide onsite services to enable effective facilitation of the innovative “mLang pedagogy” by teachers and tutors from schools and NGOs admitting ethnic minority and Chinese-speaking students from low-income families.

The services include: professional development courses and workshops, diagnosis of second language learning problems and needs analysis, in-school collective lesson preparation with teachers, school-based teaching material development, application of mLang in teaching activities, teaching demonstrations, lesson observation and evaluation. Via the customizable mLang learning experience, underprivileged students will be better able to acquire Chinese and English as second languages seamlessly, while equipping themselves with the prerequisites for further studies, career advancement, and upward social mobility. The mLang Project also provides an ideal platform for second language learners from different cultural backgrounds to interact with each other. Students from the participating schools will be invited to join the project's Pen Pal Scheme in the role of Student Ambassadors. They will be paired with fellow students from other participating schools to share their heritage cultures and life experiences through the creation and appreciation of each other's mLang cards. This will provide students with ample opportunities to practise one's target language, and to build harmonious relationships across cultures and ethnicities that encourage peer collaboration and social integration.
